Many steel mills in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province were required to suspend or cut production by half, SMM learned

SHANGHAI, Jun 12 (SMM) – Many steel mills in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province were required to suspend or cut production by half, SMM learned from market discussions.

The move targeted enterprises that caused heavy pollution and was brought about by the month-long reviews of previous rectification across Jiangsu that began in June.

SMM learned that Danyang Longjiang Steel has received notice of production cuts. It is likely to cut production by 50%, affecting some 2,500 mt of daily output.

Hongtai Steel told SMM that it has not received any notice. Even if it received a notice, Hongtai expects any impact to be minimal as it is currently replacing capacity.
