MMi Daily Iron Ore Report (May 21)

A total of 81 vessels carrying 12.63 million mt of iron ore arrived at major Chinese ports during July 11-17, SMM estimates. This was down 550,000 mt from the previous week, and down 2.59 million mt from the same period last year.

The Daixian County Bureau of Industry and Information Technology issued a notice on June 23 that would cut off power for 84 dressing plants, 83 iron ore fines processing plants, and 19 metallurgical industry and trade enterprises.

A total of 87 vessels carrying 14.52 million mt of iron ore arrived at major Chinese ports during November 15-21, SMM estimates. This was up 1.17 million from the previous week and 2.33 million mt from the same period last year.

Five government departments of Liaoning Province have issued the "Liaoning Province Green Mine Construction Implementation Plan", which encourages and supports mining companies to develop green mining by providing land use, fiscal and taxation, and financial support.

A total of 85 vessels carrying 14.33 million mt of iron ore arrived at major Chinese ports during November 1-7, SMM estimates. This was down 460,000 mt from the previous week, but up 3.05 million mt from the same period last year.

A total of 104 vessels carrying 15.01 million mt of iron ore arrived at major Chinese ports during September 20-26, SMM estimates. This was up 2.81 million mt from the previous week. The amount of arrivals in Shandong and Tangshan both increased week on week, with arrivals in Shandong rising more than 50%.

A total of 91 vessels carrying 15.44 million mt of iron ore arrived at eight major Chinese ports during July 5-11, SMM estimates. This was down 350,000 mt from the prior week and down 2.08 million mt from the previous year. 

A total of 104 vessels carrying 16.19 million mt of iron ore arrived at major Chinese ports during June 21-27, SMM estimates. This was down 370,000 mt from the prior week but up 3.87 million mt from the previous year. 

A total of 86 vessels carrying 13.43 million mt of iron ore arrived at major Chinese ports during March 29 to April 4, SMM estimates.

The combined iron ore shipments from Australia and Brazil remained in a steady upward trend and this is likely to lift the arrivals at Chinese ports in the near term
