SHANGHAI, Apr 11 (SMM) – Aluminium fluoride prices dropped over 16% since the start of April to around 10,000 yuan/mt due to adequate supply and high inventories, SMM learned.
Prices stood at 12,000 yuan/mt at the end of March. However, the recovery of operations at aluminium fluoride producers and the easing of environmental protection pressure in Shandong and Henan provinces around the Qingming festival saw an increase in supply.
This also means a smaller demand for fluorite, which saw prices drop to 2,700 yuan/mt, from 3,000 yuan/mt before Chinese New Year in February.
SMM expects prices for such materials used in aluminium smelting to go down further in the short term.
