Flash: Handan initiates level II response to pollution

The city of Handan in Hebei province has initiated a level II response to the heavily polluted weather from 8pm on Sunday January 28 to the end of February 1.

SHANGHAI, Jan 29 (SMM) - The city of Handan in Hebei province has initiated a level II response to the heavily polluted weather from 8pm on Sunday January 28 to the end of February 1, SMM learned. Under the measure, all sintering furnaces are required to be suspended while all blast furnaces should be hot idled. The coking process is required to be extended to 48 hours. In addition, coke plants that have yet to complete desulfurisation would be required to extend the coking process to 72 hours.
