China’s output of electrolyte for lithium-ion battery reached 102,000 mt in 2017, with motive type accounting for the largest share at 56.8%, up 16% on a yearly basis.

China’s output of electrolyte for lithium-ion battery reached 102,000 mt in 2017, with motive type accounting for the largest share at 56.8%, up 16% on a yearly basis.

But this still lags behind the growth of motive batteries, according to statistics from Starting Point Research, as electrolyte prices declined and battery companies cut back on restocking. Lithium-ion battery companies have also lowered production since Q4 2017.

Output of electrolyte for energy storage lithium-ion batteries was 6,000 mt in 2017, up 20% on a yearly basis, mainly due to a declining lithium-ion battery price. The growth of distributed energy sources and microgrids is also driving the demand for energy storage lithium-ion batteries.
