SHANGHAI, Sept. 21 (SMM) – Supply deficit in global nickel market widened in July, according to the International Nickel Study Group (INSG).
The deficit came in at 4,700 tonnes in July, higher than 400 tonnes of shortfalls in June. Global demand for refined nickel was 182,500 tonnes in July, exceeding production of 177,800 tonnes. Higher demand was due mainly to output increases at stainless steel mills in China.
