Cargo Holders Sell Actively in Shanghai Spot Tin Market, with Trading Quiet, SMM Reports

Trading for spot tin is quiet today in Shanghai. Cargo holders are active in selling, but downstream buyers stay on the sidelines, SMM reported.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 5 (SMM) – Trading for spot tin is quiet today in Shanghai. Cargo holders are active in selling, but downstream buyers stay on the sidelines, SMM reported.

Mainstream traded prices in Shanghai were 143,500-145,000 yuan per tonne this morning, with trading quiet.

Discounts for hedged Yunxi tin were 2,000 yuan per tonne. Regular tin from Yunnan Tin Group traded at 144,000-144,500 yuan per tonne, 2,500-3,000 yuan per tonne below SHFE 3-month tin. Yunxi Tin traded at 145,000 yuan per tonne, with 143,500 yuan per tonne for small brand tin.

Media reported, citing Samsung Electronics, that Samsung Electronics has opened an advanced semiconductor packaging R&D facility in Yokohama, Japan. Samsung previously announced a plan to invest about 40 billion yen over the five years starting in 2024 to expand the laboratory's research hardware facilities and strengthen its advanced packaging technology capabilities. The advanced packaging laboratory will collaborate with Japanese enterprises, universities, and research institutions to develop next-generation packaging materials and processes. Samsung plans to grow the facility's research staff to more than 100 people by 2027.
