SHANGHAI, Aug. 25 (SMM) – China imported 287,268 tonnes of copper scrap in July, up 2.89% YoY, according to China Customs.

China Imported Copper Concentrate TCs Stabilize This Week, SMM Reports

SMM attributed two main factors to the year-on-year growth.

First, profitable import window of copper scrap opened from mid-April, increasing imports into China’s market, SMM data showed.

Second, copper smelters preferred copper scrap after price gap between copper cathode and copper scrap widened.
