SHANGHAI, Aug. 9 (SMM) – China’s primary lead output grew 8.60% MoM and 11.27% YoY to 251,811 tonnes in July as lead smelters in Yunnan, Hunan and Henan resumed output to normal level after easing of environmental checks. Moreover, the end of unit maintenance and technical innovation also helped output to rise.
In August, maintenance finish of side blown converter at Yuguang Lead&Gold will contribute 10,000 tonnes of refined lead output. However, some lead smelters in Henan and Yunnan will cut, or halt output again in response to second round of environmental checks. Output at other lead smelter, which can produce normally, will be also restricted by tight lead concentrate supply.

To sum up, SMM expected China’s primary lead output to inch down in August from July’s level.
