SHANGHAI, Aug. 4 (SMM) – Indonesian government announced this Tuesday to allow PT Trimegah Bangun Persada and PT Gane Permai Sentosa to export nickel ore.
The two mines, owned by Harita, have been given an export quota of 1.559 million tonnes, and 519,900 tonnes, respectively.
Harita has a NPI smelting capacity of 180,000 tonnes and consumes 1.80 million tonnes of ore annually, SMM learns. Another one new 33,000-KVA unit is under construction. Mines are now in operation, with ores expected in early September.
Indonesia Issues New Nickel Ore Export Quota
So far, Indonesian government has expanded its nickel ore export list to four companies, with a total export quota up to 8.14 million tonnes.
According to China Customs, China imported a total of 560,000 tonnes of nickel ore from Indonesia since Indonesia’s quota approval system to June. According to SMM sources, China may import 8 nickel ore shipments from Indonesia in July, about 400,000 tonnes of ores.

SMM expects China’s nickel ore imports from Indonesia to reach 4-5 million tonnes in 2017.
