Transactions for spot zinc improved in Shanghai market today after September zinc on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) slumped, SMM reports.

SHANGHAI, Jul. 1 (SMM) – Transactions for spot zinc improved in Shanghai market today after September zinc on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) slumped, SMM reports.

Traders and downstream buyers were both active, contributing to overall transactions.

Fundamentals to Keep Zinc Prices High This Week, SMM Foresees

Spot discounts in Shanghai narrowed additional 10 yuan per tonne in Shanghai market over August zinc on the SHFE on August 1, SMM data showed.

Zinc Inventories Add in China Major Markets, SMM Reports

#0 zinc traded mainly in 23,120-23,340 yuan per tonne range in Shanghai on August 1. #0 zinc prices in Guangdong were 23,150-23,180 yuan per tonne and 23,330-24,200 yuan per tonne in Tianjin, according to SMM.

CAML’s Sasa Zinc Output Rises 5% in H1; 2026 Guidance Maintained
Central Asia Metals (CAML) reported zinc-in-concentrate production of 9,094 tonnes at its Sasa mine in H1 2026, up 5% year on year, while lead-in-concentrate output increased 6% to 13,312 tonnes. The company said the operational improvement programme launched in H2 2025 had begun to deliver results. CAML maintained its 2026 production guidance of 18,000–20,000 tonnes of zinc in concentrate and 26,000–28,000 tonnes of lead in concentrate. Supported by higher production and metal prices, group revenue rose 46% year on year to $145.5 million, while EBITDA increased 89% to $75.5 million.
