China Zinc Concentrate TCs Left Untouched, SMM Reports

TCs of domestic zinc concentrate (50%) were mainly traded at 3,900-4,400 yuan per tonne (zinc content) last week, almost unchanged on a weekly basis, according to SMM data.

SHANGHAI, Jul. 24 (SMM) - TCs of domestic zinc concentrate (50%) were mainly traded at 3,900-4,400 yuan per tonne (zinc content) last week, almost unchanged on a weekly basis, according to SMM data.

Zinc Inventories Return to Declines in China Major Markets, SMM Reports

TCs for imported zinc concentrate (50%) were traded at $50-60 per dry metric tonne.

Zinc Prices to Continue to Fluctuate at High Levels This Week, SMM Foresees

Lower ore grade at some mines in Inner Mongolia affected output at their dressing plants, SMM noted. Some regions hiked TCs since zinc smelters lacked interest in hoarding raw material inventories.

[SHFE/LME price ratio rebounds to around 6.8 and consolidates]: This week, the SHFE/LME price ratio rebounded slightly from lows to around 6.8, with the zinc ingot export window still open. Outside China, the escalating Middle East conflict pushed up oil prices, the US dollar weakened, and nonferrous metals rebounded across the board. Fundamentals side, LME inventory remains low in absolute terms, the 0-3 backwardation structure holds above $130/mt, spot supply outside China is tight, and LME zinc is showing relative strength.
