US Steel Scrap exports increase significantly during Jan-May

The Steel Scrap exports by United States during the first five months of this year have seen a significant increase, as per US Census Bureau and International Trade Commission.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): The Steel Scrap exports by United States during the first five months of this year have seen a significant increase, as per US Census Bureau and International Trade Commission.

The scrap exports during the period were seen to increase by about 18 percent to almost 5 million tons when compared to the corresponding period last year. United States Steel scrap exports during January to May 2016 were seen at 4.218 million tons.

The scrap exports from United States to Turkey declined by about 24 percent to 1.035 million tons when compared to 1.358 million tons during the corresponding last year. Other countries like India and South Korea has also reported decrease in Scrap imports from the United States.

Scrap Imports by India was seen to decline significantly to about 295094 tons, a decrease of about 47.8 percent. While South Korean scrap imports from the United States during January to May period of this year was seen at 218024 tons, a decline of about 36 percent.
