TAIPEI (Scrap Register): Prices for Taiwanese containerized HMS # 1&2 80:20 imports stayed flat during the week ended May 26, according to the figures from The Steel Index.

According to TSI, Taiwanese containerized shredded scrap assessment remained flat the week at $238 a ton.

Few transactions were concluded as suppliers were unwilling to accept current bids from mills. Those deals that were concluded were limited in tonnage.

Orders for finished long products in the domestic market picked up this week, although these were believed to be mainly from stockists, as mills were still in no hurry to purchase scrap with the increase in seaborne material available following recent Chinese exports.
