TAIPEI (Scrap Register): Prices for Taiwanese containerized HMS # 1&2 80:20 imports slided further by $15 a ton to $235 a ton during the week ended April 21, as per the latest figures from The Steel Index.

Prices for imported ISRI grade scrap into Taiwan took a plunge during the week, as mills stood firm on lower bids.

Prices for finished and semi-finished steel products have fallen, forcing mills to hold the line on scrap purchases or face ever tighter margins.

Local demand remains tepid and falling prices across the ferrous complex in North Asia has led to an air of caution among market participants.
