US domestic Raw Steel production advances slightly to 1,737,000 net tons

United States domestic raw steel production advanced slightly by 0.3 percent year-on-year to 1,737,000 net tons in the week ended on May 6, 2017.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production advanced slightly by 0.3 percent year-on-year to 1,737,000 net tons in the week ended on May 6, 2017, while the capability utilization rate was 74.5 percent, according to the latest figures released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
Domestic raw steel production was 1,732,000 net tons in the week ended May 6, 2016 while the capability utilization then was 74.1 percent. 
The production for the week ended May 6, 2017 is down 0.7 percent from the previous week ended April 29, 2017 when production was 1,750,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 75.1 percent.
Adjusted year-to-date production through May 6, 2017 was 31,196,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 74.3 percent. That is up 3.4 percent from the 30,180,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 72.1 percent.
