Spot Zinc Premiums Narrow Sharply after China Anti-Pollution Push, SMM Reports

Zinc consumption softened recently after China strengthened environmental protection actions in Northern regions.

SHANGHAI, May 5 (SMM) - Zinc consumption softened recently after China strengthened environmental protection actions in Northern regions.

Spot premiums of zinc in Tianjin, China were quoted at 220-300 yuan per tonne over SHFE June zinc on Thursday, SMM reported.

Shanghai Sees Increased Zinc Imports as Losses Fall, SMM Reports

Imported Zinc Concentrate TCs Rise, SMM Reports

Spot premiums in Tianjin over Shanghai prices contracted from 150 yuan per tonne from last week to zero.

Zinc consumption in Shanghai is steady. Cargo holders witnessed slow sales.

Premiums in Tianjin over Shanghai prices may invert to discounts in the near term, SMM said. Shipments to Shanghai are expected.
