underground pipeline construction will boost 11.14 million tonnes of steel consumption in 2017.

SHANGHAI, May 3 (SMM) – Underground pipeline construction can avoid long-standing “road zipper” phenomenon in cities and will help reduce steel overcapacity, reported by China Business Network.

One kilometer of underground pipeline construction needs 5,500 tonnes of steel at present. As China will have 2,025-kilometers of underground pipeline construction in 2017, it will boost 11.14 million tonnes of steel consumption in 2017.
