TAIPEI (Scrap Register): Prices for Taiwanese containerized HMS # 1&2 80:20 imports continued to tumble to $260 a ton during the week ended March 31, as per the latest figures from The Steel Index.

Prices for imported ISRI grade scrap into Taiwan slid $10 a ton during the week to $260 a ton. Taiwan has seen limited activity this week as mills were waiting to see how global scrap prices will perform.

Most mills stopped their purchases of imported ISRI grade scrap this week or were bidding at a lower level for it. The gap between offers and bids were wide the week and so deals were difficult to conclude.

Recent scrap trades in North Asia and the Middle East have also put Taiwanese mills on alert and thus they were not willing to take any action at the moment.
