US domestic Raw Steel production increases slightly to 1,692,000 net tons

United States domestic raw steel production was 1,692,000 net tons in the week ended on April 1, 2017, while the capability utilization rate was 71.4 percent, according to the latest figures released

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production was 1,692,000 net tons in the week ended on April 1, 2017, while the capability utilization rate was 71.4 percent, according to the latest figures released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
According to AISI, domestic raw steel production was 1,685,000 net tons in the week ended April 1, 2016 while the capability utilization then was 72.1 percent. The current week production represents a 0.4 percent increase from the same period in the previous year.
Production for the week ended April 1, 2017 is down 1.9 percent from the previous week ended March 25, 2017 when production was 1,725,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 72.8 percent.
Adjusted year-to-date production through April 1, 2017 was 22,551,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 73.2 percent. That is up 4.1 percent from the 21,657,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 71.3 percent.
