NEW DELHI (Scrap Register): India containerized shredded scrap import weekly average prices shot up during the week ended March 10 this year, while India's major plastic scrap prices on the Scrap Register Price Index showed a mixed trend.

According to the Steel Index, Indian containerized scrap import prices increased $15 a ton the week to reach $290 a ton CFR Nhava Sheva port. Indian prices are now at the highest they’ve been since June 2015 according to TSI data.

The price increase has come on the back of global scrap prices rising and so it will be interesting to see if they continue to follow this upward trend.

Indian prices have not broken $300 a ton since early 2015. HMS 1&2 80:20 was priced around $275-$285 a ton for containerized material.

The plastic scrap commodities like ABS(bayr), Acrylic, C.P.W, HD Blowing, Hips(Baff) and PVC resin desi showed a steady trend during the week, while API, HD Moulding (Colour), LLDP Blowing and PVC pest grade dropped during the week.
