TAIPEI (Scrap Register): Prices for Taiwanese containerized HMS # 1&2 80:20 imports climbed by $05 a ton to $281 a ton during the week ended March 03, as per the latest figures from The Steel Index.
Imported ISRI grade scrap prices into Taiwan saw a $5 a ton rise this week to reach $281 a ton. Offers from overseas ISRI grade scrap suppliers went up further this week for Taiwanese buyers due to tight supplies and strong demand in South-East Asia.
Although some deals were concluded for imported scrap, most mills purchased directly from domestic scrap suppliers, in turn resulting in higher domestic prices.
The local market for long products also strengthened this week as stockists and end users rushed to place their orders in view of global prices rises.
