US domestic Raw Steel production gains 3.3 percent to 1,766,000 net tons

United States domestic raw steel production gained by 3.3 percent to 1,766,000 net tons in the week ended on February 18, 2017 while the capability utilization rate was 74.6 percent, as per the latest

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production gained by 3.3 percent to 1,766,000 net tons in the week ended on February 18, 2017 while the capability utilization rate was 74.6 percent, as per the latest figures released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

According to AISI, US domestic raw steel production was 1,709,000 net tons in the week ended February 18, 2016 while the capability utilization then was 73.1 percent. 

Production for the week ended February 18, 2017 is up 1.6 percent from the previous week ended February 11, 2017 when production was 1,738,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 73.4 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through February 18, 2017 was 12,066,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 72.7 percent. That is up 4.8 percent from the 11,512,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 70.8 percent.
