US domestic Raw Steel production climbs nearly 7% to 1,716,000 net tons

United States domestic raw steel production climbed by nearly 7 percent to 1,716,000 net tons during the week ended on January 14, 2017.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production climbed by nearly 7 percent to 1,716,000 net tons during the week ended on January 14, 2017 while the capability utilization rate was 72.3 percent, as per the latest figures released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
According to AISI, domestic raw steel production was 1,607,000 net tons in the week ended January 14, 2016 while the capability utilization then was 68.7 percent.
US domestic raw steel production for the week ended January 14, 2017 is up 1.9 percent from the previous week ended January 7, 2017 when production was 1,684,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 71.0 percent.
Adjusted year-to-date production through January 14, 2017 was 3,400,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 70.8 percent. That is up 5.8 percent from the 3,214,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 68.7 percent.
