TAIPEI (Scrap Register): Prices for Taiwanese containerized HMS # 1&2 80:20 imports stayed stable during the week ended December 23, as per the latest figures from The Steel Index.

Imported ISRI grade scrap prices into Taiwan remained flat during the week at $253 a ton. As the week came to a close Taiwanese mills sat on the sidelines as steel futures prices in China plummeted.

Earlier in the week, however, some mills in Taiwan offered slightly higher prices for domestic scrap, but as Chinese prices started to slide, all negotiations came to a halt.
