LONDON (Scrap Register): Northern Europe hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices climbed by €2 per ton week-on-week at €454 per ton in the week ended October 21, as per the latest figures released by The Steel Index.
The European steel market continued to demonstrate stable pricing, as North European HRC index remained in a narrow €451- 454 a ton range from the start of October.
In the Italian market HRC trades were concentrated closer to the €420 a ton mark, unchanged for the last few weeks.
Import offers on a CFR Antwerp basis were heard not far from domestic price levels: Indian HRC offered at €425 a ton and Turkish between €430-445 a ton.
Despite a number of trade investigations, imports remain on an elevated level, and in its latest report Eurofer commented that finished steel imports in September were the highest since October 2015, although it did not give an exact number.
