Southern European HRC Steel prices climb further to €420 per ton mark

The Southern European hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices climbed further by €10 a ton to €420 a ton during the week ended September 30, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.

LONDON (Scrap Register): The Southern European hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices climbed further by €10 a ton to €420 a ton during the week ended September 30, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index. 

European HRC prices continued to rise during the week, as recent mills’ list price increases and a lack of imports left little room for buyers to man-oeuvre. 

Transactional prices in Northern Europe moved close to the €450 a ton mark, showing a steady ascent towards producers’ targeted offer level. 

In Italy large buyers were resisting to pay anything higher than €425 a ton for HRC, while smaller players requiring prompt delivery were reporting trades at €430/t and above. 

Lead-times were heard to be stretching, and HRC is now being sold for December delivery.
