ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish steel imports plummeted by 23.3 percent year-on-year to 1.25 million metric tons during the month of October this year according to the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
Turkish semi-finished steel imports dropped sharply by 38.5 percent year-on-year to 415,500 metric tons, while Turkey’s flat steel imports declined by 12.9 percent year-on-year to 626,400 metric tons.
Turkish steel imports down by 4 percent year-on-year to 15.2 million metric tons during January to October this year.
Turkey’s semi-finished imports declined by 18 percent to 5.48 million metric tons during the first ten months of this year, while Turkey’s flat steel imports continued to increase by 5.3 percent to 7.37 million metric tons.
However, Turkey October steel exports volume was equivalent to 112% of its total steel import volume in the same month, as compared to 93 percent a year early.
Turkey's steel export volume was equivalent to 96 percent of its steel import volume during the first ten months of this year, the percentage unchanged as compared the same period last year.
