LONDON (Scrap Register): Chinese crude steel production jumped by 4 percent year-on-year to 68.5 million tons during the month of October this year, while India's crude steel production advanced by 12.3% year-on-year to 8.3 million tons, as per the latest figures from the World Steel Association.
Elsewhere in Asia, Japan produced 9.0 Mt of crude steel in October, an increase of 0.6% compared to October 2015. Global crude steel production was 136.5 million tons in October, 3.3% up on October 2015.
Global crude steel capacity utilisation ratio during October 2016 was 69.6%. It was 68.2% in October 2015. The October 2016 capacity utilisation ratio is 0.6 percentage points lower than the September 2016 ratio.
