TAIPEI (Scrap Register): Prices for Taiwanese containerized HMS # 1&2 80:20 imports dropped further by $2 a ton  to $194 a ton during the week ended September 30, as per the latest figures from The Steel Index.

Imported ISRI grade scrap prices continue to slip during the week in Taiwan. Bids from steel producers headed south with few in a hurry to procure scrap material in the face of persistently weak demand and copious supplies of domestic scrap.

Overseas scrap suppliers are facing difficulties in remaining competitive in the current bearish price environment with mills holding off from purchasing as long as prices continue to fall.
