LONDON (Scrap Register): The Southern European hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices stayed stable week-on-week at €384 a ton during the week ended August 19, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.
According to TSI, European HRC indices remained largely stable during the week, as the market continued to display only very limited activity.
While North European HRC prices seem to be staying around the €420 a ton mark for the moment, there are, however, more indications that price hikes are becoming more certain.
As the spread between domestic European and Asian steel prices started to shrink again, one buyer describer the prospect of increases for Q4 orders as an obvious one.
