MUMBAI (Scrap Register): The government of India is on a plan to bring out a new Steel policy in the country. The policy is aiming to ensure the growth of the Steel sector along with even growth in all the related sectors.

A new and dynamic Steel policy has been envisioned by the Niti Aayog, the think tank of the government, focusing to bring the industry back on track and to meet the target of 300 million tonnes (MT) capacity by 2025.

A need to examine the entire value chain associated with the Steel industry, from raw materials to production of finished products is needed to discover the bottlenecks in the sector, as per Aayog.

The domestic Steel industry is badly affected by the cheap imports from China, Korea and Japan, impacting sales and profits during the last few years.
