Australia firms up Alumina price on Chinese demand

Strong Chinese demand for Alumina has firmed the price of Australian daily Alumina up $2/mt from Friday at $235/mt FOB Monday.

CANBERRA (Scrap Register): Strong Chinese demand for Alumina has firmed the price of Australian daily Alumina up $2/mt from Friday at $235/mt FOB Monday and the price was up $4.50/mt on week, according to Platts.

Handysize freight rate has been assessed at $14.05/mt on Monday for a 30,000-mt shipment in late October from Western Australia by S&P Global Platts.

The prices of Alumina in China is increasing and is expected that spot Alumina prices may reach Yuan 2,200/mt or above after the National Day holidays break from October 1-7.
