TAIPEI (Scrap Register): Taiwanese containerized scrap import prices increased $8 a ton to $218 a ton CFR Taiwan port. Prices rose as a result of mill’s uncertainty around scrap supply, even though the domestic situation for finished long products remained sluggish.
Mills are therefore facing greater pressure in trying to strike a balance between domestic finished product prices and the rise in imported scrap price levels.
Some mills are therefore seeking new overseas markets for their rebar, yet finding suitable price levels have remained challenging.
