US Domestic Raw Steel Production down Nearly 5% To 1,642,000 Net Tons

Domestic raw steel Production was 1,726,000 net tons in the week ended August 27, 2015 while the capability utilization then was 72.2 percent.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production down nearly 5% year on year to 1,642,000 net tons in the week ended August 27 while the capability utilization rate was 70.2 percent, as per the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

Domestic raw steel Production was 1,726,000 net tons in the week ended August 27, 2015 while the capability utilization then was 72.2 percent.

Production for the week ended August 27, 2016 is down 0.8 percent from the previous week ended August 20, 2016 when production was 1,655,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 70.8 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through August 27, 2016 was 59,263,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 72.4 percent. That is down 1.2 percent from the 59,979,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 72.3 percent.
