MOSCOW (Scrap Monster): According to Russian Trade Statistics data released yesterday, the pig iron exports by Russia during the month of May this year jumped significantly higher when compared with the exports during same month a year before. Also, the exports registered significant increase from the previous month.
Russia’s pig iron exports totaled 445,673 tons in May ’16. The total exports were up by 33.7% over the previous year. The country’s pig iron exports had totaled 333,338 tons during the month of May in 2015. Also, the country’s pig iron exports in May this year increased sharply by nearly 15% relative to the prior month. Russia’s pig iron exports had totaled 388,991 tons during May this year.
The largest importer of Russian pig iron during May ‘16 was the US with 280,574 tons. The exports to the US increased sharply by 12.2% when compared with the exports of 250,089 tons during the prior month. The exports to the US accounted for 49.5% of the total pig iron exports by Russia during the month. The second largest importer was Italy. The imports by Italy surged higher significantly over the previous month total of 32,573 tons to 55,126 tons in May this year. In third place was Slovenia with 28,566 tons. The other key export destinations of Russian pig iron were Taiwan (20,456 tons), Germany (17,703 tons) and Turkey (12,638 tons).
The cumulative pig iron exports by the country during the initial five-month period in 2016 totaled 2.026 million tons, 7.6% higher when compared with the exports of 1.883 million tons during the corresponding five-month period in 2015. The top export destination of Russian pig iron was the US. The exports to the country totaled 1.002 million tons, accounting for 42.17% of the total pig iron exports during this period. The exports to the US witnessed a jump of nearly 26% over the previous year. The other key importers during Jan-May ’16 were Spain (306,317 tons, 16.3% share), Italy (205,324 tons, 10.9% share), Turkey (126,080 tons, 6.7% share) and Germany (103,351 tons, 5.5% share).
According to statistics published by the Customs Committee of Russia, monthly exports averaged at 405,000 tons during the first five months of 2016. The top two importing nations accounted for more than 50% of the total pig iron shipments out of Russia during January to May this year. The country’s pig iron exports during the entire year 2016 are estimated to total around 4.860 million tons.
Exports-Apr ‘16
The pig iron exports by Russia during the month totaled 388,991 tons. The largest importer was the US with imports totaling 250,089 tons in April this year. The other key export destinations were Turkey (38,881 tons), Italy (32,573 tons) and Belarus (26,378 tons).
Exports-Mar ‘16
Russia exported 676,454 tons of pig iron during the month. The US with imports of 390,570 tons, was the key export destination. The other main importers of Russian pig iron during the month were Spain (110,346 tons), Italy (48,529 tons), Taiwan (28,699 tons) and Germany (28,487 tons).
Exports-Feb ‘16
The pig iron exports by Russia during the month totaled 320,789 tons. The largest importer was Italy with imports totaling 118,592 tons in February this year. The other key export destinations were the US (59,071 tons), Spain (27,752 tons) and Germany (23,595 tons).
Exports-Jan ‘16
The country exported 194,184 tons of pig iron during the first month of the current year. Taiwan with imports of 37,524 tons was the key export destination. The other main importers of Russian pig iron during the month were Turkey (28,663 tons), Italy (27,654 tons) and the US (22,016 tons).
