MUMBAI(Scrap Register): India's Nalco is planning to produce 385000 mt of aluminum in the 2016-17 fiscal year. The aluminum target is having a 3.5 % increase year on year from 372000 mt in fiscal 2015-16.
India's rising aluminum imports were a concern for domestic producers in January. In April it was re-focusing on bauxite mining and alumina refining in a bid to better handle the market downturn in aluminum.
In January Nalco was planning to produce 630000 mt of aluminum in fiscal 2015-16, before actual output was scaled back to 372,000 mt. It has set amn aluminum target of 2.13 million for the fiscal year 2016-17, increasing 9% year on year.
