SHANGHAI, Jun. 28 (SMM) - Zambian Minister of Mines Christopher Yaluma said last Thursday the country’s copper output is expected to rise 5.5% to 750,000 tonnes this year, and seen double next year to 1.50 million tonnes, wenhua.com reports.

The growth is believed to be attributable to production upgrading by local mining companies. The country approved a plan in February to introduce a mine-royalties system that varies based on copper prices.

The second largest copper producing country in Africa produced 711,515 tonnes of copper output in 2015.
