SHFE Nickel Ends Up 1.66% (Jan. 18, 2016)

SHFE 1605 nickel started last Friday night session at RMB 67,820/mt and bounced back to RMB 68,960/mt.

SHANGHAI Jan. 18 (SMM) – SHFE 1605 nickel started last Friday night session at RMB 67,820/mt and bounced back to RMB 68,960/mt. But later the contract fell back before ending at RMB 68,070/mt.

SHFE nickel opened at RMB 68,070/mt during Monday trading session and once climbed to RMB 69,620/mt, to close at RMB 69,320/mt, up 1.66%. Trading volumes grew 14,904 to 1.08 million lots with positions up 7,720 to 450,000.

Sluggish Transactions in Domestic Secondary Crude Lead Market, Prices at 15,250-15,400 Yuan/mt

The domestic secondary crude lead market experienced sluggish transactions. As of February 6, 2026, the ex-factory tax-exclusive offers for domestic secondary crude lead stood at 15,250-15,400 yuan/mt. Downstream refined lead and alloy smelters gradually entered the holiday period, showing weak stockpiling willingness. Overseas lead ingot suppliers basically halted transactions with China due to poor consumption in the Chinese market, with only some previously concluded shipments maintaining normal in-transit transportation. The trading atmosphere in the secondary crude lead market will continue to weaken next week.
