SHANGHAI, Dec. 4 (SMM) – Operating rates at Chinese secondary lead producers were stimulated by growing profits recently, SMM learnt.

Domestic secondary lead prices were mainly at 12,450-12,600 yuan per tonne (tax included) in this past week with average price at 12,545 yuan per tonne, up 80 yuan per tonne on a weekly basis.

On the other hand, average price of scrap automobile batteries (white shell) and motive batteries came at 6,575 yuan per tonne and 7,150 yuan per tonne, respectively, with the former fell 65 yuan per tonne. This cut smelting costs by 100 yuan per tonne.

As such, disqualified secondary lead smelters, idled previously, were active in recovering operation.
