SHFE 1601 zinc contract prices opened at RMB 12,870/mt Thursday evening, then touched a high of RMB 13,125/mt, and closed at RMB 13,005/mt, up RMB 75/mt.

SHANGHAI, Nov. 16 (SMM) – SHFE 1601 zinc contract prices opened at RMB 12,870/mt Thursday evening, then touched a high of RMB 13,125/mt, and closed at RMB 13,005/mt, up RMB 75/mt. Trading volumes were 520,000 lots, and total positions decreased 4,000 to 219,000. SHFE 1601 zinc contract prices opened at RMB 13,005/mt on Friday, and reached RMB 13,110/mt. With a rising US dollar, SHFE 1601 zinc contract prices fell back to RMB 12,900/mt and closed at RMB 12,955/mt, up RMB 25/mt. Trading volumes increased 94,000 to 829,000 lots. Total positions decreased 40,000 to 219,000.

#0 zinc prices were between RMB 13,280-13,360/mt, RMB 240-300/mt above SHFE 1512 zinc contract prices. #1 zinc traded at RMB 13,160-13,200/mt. Imported zinc were RMB 20/mt below or RMB 120/mt above SHFE 1601 zinc contract prices. Smelters held back goods as spot zinc prices rose slightly. Traders sold normally, and downstream buyers purchased as needed, with overall transactions quiet.
