ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import average prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) fell further by $2 a ton week-on-week to $171 a ton in the week ended October 23, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.
According to TSI, daily benchmark index for deep-sea Turkish imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 rose off near-record lows on last Friday to $174 a ton (daily spot price) - its highest day-on-day rise since July as sentiment firmed.
However, some traders were quick to express caution against calling recent price levels a floor, stating sufficient uncertainty prevailed in the marketplace given upcoming elections in Turkey as well as concerns over demand for finished steel. For now, some respite for recyclers.
