EU-28 crude steel production slumps 5% in Sep 2015

According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World steel), the crude steel production by EU-28 countries declined by 4.6% during the month of September year-on-year.

CANTERBURY (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World steel), the crude steel production by EU-28 countries declined by 4.6% during the month of September year-on-year. The output by the region totaled 13.571 Million tonnes during the month.

Germany recorded the highest output during the month of September. The country produced 3.379 Million tonnes during the month, which is lower by 3.9% when compared with the country’s output of 3.515 Million tonnes during September 2014. On a year-on-year basis, the Netherlands recorded the biggest jump in production. The crude steel output by the Netherlands surged higher by 14.1% in September ’15 over the previous year.

The lowest output was by Croatia. The crude steel output by Croatia dropped sharply by 56.6% from 23,000 tonnes in September 2014 to 10,000 tonnes in September this year.

Belgium, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden recorded increased year-on-year crude steel production. Croatia recorded the biggest decline in crude steel output during September ‘15, falling by 56.6% when compared with the previous year.
