WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster): The company stated in a report that, they have taken this decision on the basis that, at present it wants to concentrate on its aluminum rolling and recycling operations in Brazil, rather than in the smelter.
The Senior Vice President of Novelis, Tadeu Nardocci, stated that, the company's decision regarding the closure of the smelter in Brazil is based on the concern of the company's global strategy and also to maintain its lead and global sustainability in the recycling industry, in addition to that matter, there were also some systematic issues which affected the whole aluminum industry of Brazil, in turn increasing the cost of production, and also the overall competition.
