Sea freight index at Baltic Exchange falls sharply to 1,038 points

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels fell on Thursday mainly on weaker capesize and panamax rates.

LONDON (Scrap Register): The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels fell on Thursday mainly on weaker capesize and panamax rates.

The overall index, which factors in average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk transport vessels, down by 18 points or 1.7 percent to 1,038 points.

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange is the rate which tracks for ships carrying dry bulk commodities.
