Zhuzhou Smelter Group Begins Supplying High-End Alloy for South Korean Company

SHANGHAI, Sept. 25 (SMM) – On Sept. 19, Zhuzhou Smelter Group’s 20 tonnes of R228 zinc ingot was shipped to POSCO (Guangdong) Steel Co., and Zhuzhou Smelter Group thus becomes the first Chinese company supplying high-end zinc alloy that meets requirements by South Korean companies. 

 

POSCO (Guangdong) Steel Co., the first company invested by POSCO in China, mainly produces high-end galvanized plate used in automobile and home appliances. POSCO – a steel mogul in the world – supplies over 30 million tonnes of steel products to more than 60 countries each year.

 

Zhuzhou Smelter Group now has 550,000-tpy zinc capacity, with 85% of zinc alloy capacity. The company has increased its share in high-end zinc alloy market. Its major customers include Baosteel, Shougang Group, Arcelor Mittal and Wuhan I/S.
