Baltic index ends below 750 points on weaker rates for bigger vessels

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels declined further to 732 points on Friday as rates for bigger vessels continued to drop.

UNITED KINGDOM July 21 2014 3:27 LONDON (Scrap Register): The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels declined further to 732 points on Friday as rates for bigger vessels continued to drop.

The overall index, which factors in average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk transport vessels, was down 6 points or 0.8 percent to 732 points.

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange is the rate which tracks for ships carrying dry bulk commodities.
