NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices edged up by $1 a short ton or 0.1% week-on-week to $677 a short ton in the week ended June 13th this year, as per the latest figures released by the The Steel Index (TSI).

After price declines seen in the past few weeks, US HR coil market stabilised in the $670-680 a short ton range, with a slight uptick in TSI’s HRC index to $677 a short ton on Friday.

Concerns about coming cheaper-priced imports were counter-balanced by the reports about production problems at AK Steel’s plant, with some of the market players stepping to the side-lines waiting for the clearer price direction.
