Sea Freight Index at Baltic Exchange Drops to Below 900 Points

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels dropped to below 900 points early this week due to dropping capesize and panamax rates.

UNITED KINGDOM June 19 2014 10:35 AM LONDON (Scrap Register): The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels dropped to below 900 points early this week due to dropping capesize and panamax rates.

The overall index, which factors in average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk transport vessels, dropped by 26 points or 2.87 percent to 880 points.

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange is the rate which tracks for ships carrying dry bulk commodities.
