Sea freight index at Baltic Exchange declines on lower rates

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels declined to 906 points on Friday mainly due to weaker capesize and panamax rates.

LONDON (Scrap Register): The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels declined to 906 points on Friday mainly due to weaker capesize and panamax rates.
 
The overall index, which factors in average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk transport vessels, declined 33 points or 3.51% to 906 points.
 
The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange is the rate which tracks for ships carrying dry bulk commodities.
